A new First Nations-led national organization called Our Ways Strong Together launched Wednesday in Canberra to address family and sexual violence against Aboriginal women and children, who experience such violence at dramatically higher rates than non-Indigenous Australians. The organization, directed by Aunty Muriel Bamblett, will coordinate with community services and government agencies across policing, courts, and housing as part of a $218.3 million government commitment to meet Closing the Gap targets of halving family violence rates by 2031.
