Ed Bernard, an actor best known for portraying undercover cop Joe Styles on NBC's "Police Woman" (1974-78) and principal Jim Willis on CBS' "The White Shadow," died Jan. 23 in Northridge at age 86. The Philadelphia native also appeared in films including "Shaft" and "Blue Thunder" and guest-starred on numerous television series throughout his career.
