NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman announced Tuesday that the agency will cancel its planned Lunar Gateway orbital station and instead focus resources on constructing a comprehensive Moon base over the next decade as part of a competitive challenge against China. The base, to be developed in three phases costing roughly $10 billion each through 2036, will include habitats, power systems, rovers, and manufacturing capabilities to support sustained human presence on the lunar surface.
