Judy Pace, a pioneering Black actress known for roles in "Brian's Song," "Cotton Comes to Harlem" and television's "Peyton Place," died Wednesday at age 83 in Marina del Rey, California. Pace was the first Black woman contracted at Columbia Studios and later co-founded the Kwanza Foundation with Nichelle Nichols to support Black women in film and provide arts scholarships to minority students.
